Simple Ways To Save Money

Saving money is something we all want to do, but finding ways to save money is sometimes elusive. Say the word "budget" to many people and their eyes glass over or they flee the room in fear. Just the thought of living a rigid life filled with restrictions has them on the run. Whether you choose to use a budget or not, there are some simple ways for you save some green. Read on and we'll cover some ideas that could work for you.

Coupons, Clipless or Otherwise -- If the thought of cutting coupons is anathema to you, you can still save a bundle at the grocer's checkout by using your store's discount card. Concentrate on picking up as many sale items as possible and you can easily shave 10-30% off of your shopping bill. Remember, you have to have the card in order to save.

Bank Online -- That crummy savings rate of .75% at your local bank is easily beat by a savings rate of 5% online. ING Direct is one of many banks allowing consumers to open up accounts to take advantage of higher yielding savings. With inflation running at more than 3% annually, settling for anything less will see your money's value erode over time.

Shop The Sales -- Department stores learned ages ago that consumers will shop when a bargain is offered. Midweek sales, Super Saturdays, every holiday conceivable sales -- all of this means that you can find regular prices most days of the week. Then again, if you shop on a day between sales, expect to pay full price!

Shop Online -- Inasmuch that bargains can be found at many brick 'n mortar retailers, the best savings can usually be found online.  Think shipping costs will eat up your savings? Not always -- greatly reduced shipping charges or even free shipping is sometimes offered, especially on larger orders.

Compare Prices -- If you are fixing the roof, buying a bicycle, replacing your car, going on vacation, etc. you can find savings by simply comparing prices. The larger the ticket price, the more diligent you should be to ensure that the price you pay is the lowest price available.

Dispute Fees -- Banks, realtors, and credit card companies love to charge fees for their services. Although there isn't anything wrong with assessing fees, if you can get similar services for a lower cost, then why not tell your realtor, banker, credit card company, etc. that you want a lower rate? If they won't budge, then you can by taking your business elsewhere.

Yes, saving money can be accomplished on any level -- have a mind to save and you'll be racking up real savings in no time.
